The School of Information Technology at RGTU was established in 2002-03. School of Information Technology offers M. Tech. in Computer Technology & Applications as well as in Information Technology. These courses prepare young graduates to take state of art challenges as required by the industry and R & D organizations Information Technology is a field that continues to evolve at a rate faster than other disciplines. Advances in the field have resulted in significant developments in Information and Communication Technologies, which in turn, has had a tremendous impact on the way research, is conducted. As a result the school has increased its emphasis on research during the last few years. I take much pride to announce that within a short span of five years, the department has made a mark in ICT and Computing research especially in the area of Mobile Computing, Datamining, Soft computing, Information Security and Image Processing, which is evident from the magnitude of contribution to scientific literature.Encouraged by the continual success in the field of our research interest, the department is planning to set up a Special Interest Group in the area of Mobile Communication with close collaboration with universities of international repute and the leading industries of the area, which shall be focused on the design and development of new technologies for betterment of mankind. This department shall start an international journal on recent issues in information and communication technologies to provide a forum to the researchers and scientists. Realizing the need for the development of interdisciplinary research activities so as to strengthen and broaden our field, the Department has initiated close collaboration with other local and international academic as well as industrial institutions in the areas of nanotechnology, bioinformatics, middleware technologies, service oriented architecture and sensor networks. The department continues to contribute to advances in Information Technology and is striving to improve its position as one of the leading school in India.

School of Biotechnology at RGPV was established in 2003 with a mission to build up state of the art infrastructure and facilities for world class research and development and balanced innovative teaching programmes commensurate with the needs of the nation and Madhya Pradesh, in particular. At present, School of Biotechnology runs M.Tech programme in Biotechnology. A number of research schemes supported by the central/state government agencies are ongoing in the School. Excellent facilities for teaching and research in animal biotechnology, plant biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, genetic engineering and biochemistry. Almost all major equipments including, thermal cycler (PCR), Gel documentation system, UV-visual double beam spectrophotometer, deep freezers, water purification system, large horizontal autoclave, Inverted microscope with compatible digital camera and CO2 incubators are available. Major areas of research at this centre include alternative medicine, cancer research, biofuels and biodiesel, genomics and environmental biotechnology.

Range of research opportunities facing the School of Nanotechnology, RGPV and its collaborative partners is truly unlimited. With the view to strengthen the Nations resolve to achieve Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability in the foreseeable future, RGPV established a UTD in the area of Energy Technology and Environmental Management in the year 2002 with the prime objective to focus on Green Energy Technologies. RGPV/RGTU Distance Learning - EDUSAT

In collaboration with ISRO, RGPV had initiated the telecast of curriculum relevant lessons to about 80 professional institutions in MP in 2003. However, due to limitations in the application software, ISRO terminated the initial experiment and has recently decided to upgrade its applications and infrastructure. In consequence, many affiliated institutions and their students will start benefiting from the telecasts in about three months.

In fact this experiment is anticipated to accomplish the following:

- In a virtual classroom to learn from preeminent faculty.

- Engage you in a dynamic learning environment that addresses societal and industry issues.

- Guide you through critical knowledge about engineering, science, social science, and management fields.

- Involve you in the forefront of emerging technologies, theories, and practices, and Connect you to a community of people committed to advancing new knowledge and leading change in the world.

As part of the original agreement, the RGPV is carrying the responsibility of recording live lessons in various subjects of BE and MCA courses, and telecasting them through ISRO network. This responsibility is fulfilling very soon with the help of experienced and competent teachers from various institutions and the infrastructure (studio and recording and telecasting facility) housed at the university initially and later having teaching ends at least in two noble centers. Normally, the lessons or software are recorded well in advance of the actual telecast and have to provide student learning in the networked institution for 2-4 hours each day in the initial period of the project. In addition to these lectures the university is purchasing video lectures/contents prepared by institutions like IITs, IIMs and others. The expense on this is by the RGPV.

This innovative initiative is benefit-

- More than 1.2 lacs of BE and Diploma in Engg. Students and about 3000 MCA students.

- 7500 Teacher from 85 Engineering Colleges, 50 Polytechnics, and 30 MCA institutions.

Modeling & Simulation of Carbon Recycling Technology through Conversion of CO2 into Useful Multi- Purpose fuel:

The project aims at development of a pilot plant for CO2 capture and production of useful multipurpose fuel like Hydrogen, Methane and Algae growth for Bio diesel production in the Energy park of RGPV.

OBJECTIVES
1. Sequester CO2 and convert the same into useful multipurpose fuels.
2. Use CO2 to grow micro algae to produce Bio-diesel and Methane Gas.
3. To establish a Pilot Plant for CO2 sequestration and conversion in to multipurpose fuel.
4. To develop mathematical & chemical models for CO2 sequestration, Hydro Gasifier & Algae pond systems.

FOR THIS PURPOSE FOLLOWING FOUR SYSTEMS SHALL BE INCORPORATED:

CO2 sequestration system Metallic solvent for CO2 capture Catalytic Flash Reduction of CO2 using charcoal from Gasifier.
Production of Hydrogen from CO.
Production of Methane using Hydro Gasification of Biomass process.
Pilot study to capture CO2 for algae production and extraction of Biodiesel

METHODOLOGY
The Rajiv Gandhi Technological University is having 10 kW Biomass Gasifier and Bio-Diesel Reactor (100 LPD) in its Energy Park. Using Exhaust from Gasifier and Char coal, a pilot plant for capture of CO2 based on Chemical solvent and for converting the same into useful fuel like Hydrogen for Fuel Cell application and Methane is being developed. Additionally, a Bio-fuel Incubator is being developed for producing variety of Algae culture for CO2 capture. An Incubation Unit on fuel Cell is also being developed by RGTU in which Hydrogen from the pilot plant will be the prime input.

Overall Espected Outcome
Development of a working plant to Capture CO2, the prime GHG and generate non conventional Energy sources viz. H2, CH4, Bio-diesel and thus provide formidable support to National Mission on GHG reduction for combating Global warming and consequent Climate Change.

RGPV/RGTU Solar Wind Hybrid System

A 1.6 kW Solar Wind Hybrid System has been designed and erected at Rajiv Gandhi Technological University Bhopal with a Solar-Wind ratio of 3: 13 i.e.300Watt Solar & 1300 Watt Wind. This optimized configuration has been chosen through WaSP software. A Biomass Gasifier is being integrated into the system for a reliable configuration of Hybrid system of the three Renewable sources. Following and equipments were used for setting up of Solar wind hybrid system:.

BIODIESEL PROJECT- A CONTRIBUTION TO NATIONAL BIODIESEL MISSION
India's energy independence is on the top of National agenda of policy planners and each one of us in this university is supporting this mission. A positive step in this direction has already been initiated in the form of National Biodiesel Mission by Government of India. RGPV is firmly committed to provide support to this mission of high national importance. The RGPV Biodiesel park is conceived from the view point of accelerating the energy farming and cultivating the knowledge and know-how for producing World class Quality Biodiesel. The RGPV Biodiesel Park is a joint venture of School of Biotechnology, School of Energy & Environment and strongly supported by Centre of Green Technologies at RGPV. The park shall also receive support from University of Houston with whom we have signed an MoU for collaborating research.

OBJECTIVES
• Biodiesel Park will be an impact project to accelerate the Energy farming for Rural Entrepreneurship.
• Serve as a demonstration project enhancing the knowledge and expertise of farmers & small entrepreneurs
• Promote decentralized power generation in Madhya Pradesh
• To supply part of the diesel fuel that is consumed within the country.
• Strengthen the government commitment towards green and clean environment.
• To supply raw materials for enterprises which produce feed concentrates for cattle, pigs and poultry
• Transformation of the marginal and idle lands to productive areas
• Protect and regenerate the natural resources such as water and soil
• A research & training tool for Engineers and Technicians who will be working in the Biodiesel industry
• To create temporary and permanent jobs for the unemployed youth.

• Efficient utilization of By-products thereby reducing the cost of biodiesel

ENERGY FARMING
The energy farming may be done in an area of 8 acres of land in the Energy park and in the outskirts of the Campus. The plantation of promising varity of Jatropha curcus is being done to the tune of 6000 plants.

RGPV / RGTU has announced the BE 2nd semester results, Rajiv Gandhi Technology University recently came second semester of BE results in 66% students of BE second semester failed due to difficult questions papers. Association of Private Colleges requested to RGPV to test the level of RGPV students, they said that paper were not made according to certain patterns. Nearly 70,000 students were involved in the examination. 66 percent of these students have failed in Maths2 (M-2), engineering drawings and basic electrical engineering . In Basic Electrical Engineering paper some question was out of syllabus.
